Pencil Zentangle Drawing

I look on at my friend Yvonne's daily Zentangles
and think I should be able to do that.
Well here is a borderline awful attempt.
However, I committed to posting my creations.
Clearly not everything is a masterpiece.

On a beautiful spring day like today I was inspired
to draw this "I'm Walking" Basset.
He is clearly ready to get moving!

Day 55 Handy Basset

 8 1/2 x 11 Pencil Drawing

Ok, not sure how I feel about this one.
Used the outline of my hand which made one ear shorter.
Not saying he's not cute but kinda looks maimed.

Getting better everytime with adding

Day 46 Blended Basset

9 x 12
Colored Pencil Blending Practice

This entry is yet "another" futile attempt by me to practice blending.
This is a technique that continues to elude me.
I just can't seem to be able to achieve the light side of the spectrum.

Day 41 Kirby Sketch

9 x 12
Pencil Sketch

This is a pencil sketch of my boy Kirby.
This drawing does him justice because he has
a long and pronounced skinnier nose than his brother.
We call him our "alligator dog".

Day 32 Greeting Basset

4 x 4 Colored Pencil Greeting Card

Mister basset here is my first attempt at colored pencil sketch.
I like the pattern that was achieved with the cardstock material.
Not sure if I got his nose right, it seems a little bulbous.
Nonetheless, he turned out pretty cute.

Day 17 Did You Call Me?

9 x 12 Pencil on Sketch Paper

This was a very quick sketch of a full-body basset.
I named this drawing as I did because this is exactly the
look that my bassets give us after they finally decide to listen.

One of the predominate traits of Basset Hounds is that they
can be EXTREMELY stubborn.  They do things on their time
table not their humans schedule.  Yet when they finally do pay
attention they give us the "What?" look.

Day 11 Zen Basset 1

Pencil Zentangle Design

A new drawing/doodling technique call Zentangle.
Learned about this from one of my other 365 friends.

It's not just doodling because these little designs all have
patterns and names.  This project required some research.
Thus the number following the title - all that time and energy
means that I will be doing more of these in the future.

Day 9 Posing Basset

9 x 12 Pencil on Sketch Paper
(I actually only used about 9 x 9 of the sheet)

My second adventure into pencil sketching.
A much easier experience this time.

We continued our studying about drawing on the right side of your brain
in art group this thursday and the importance of viewing a drawing as
a series of shapes and lines versus what the actual drawing makes up.

I felt I was using the right side of my brain and not "over-thinking".
Proud of myself with this little sketch.

Day 1 Pencil Sketch

© Lisa Northrup

My first entry is a pencil sketch.  This was a stretch for me.  Drawing is an area of Art that I have never believed I could do.  This in fact is the second actual sketch that I have ever created.

As a disclaimer, this is not a sketch of one of the "boys" because they clearly would not be unable to pose for a sitting.

Until tomorrow ... Have a GREAT day!
